Regina da Costa Val

                Painter, Engraver, Drawer

Besides pursuing the artistic activity, she works as a Doctor of Medicine. Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, in Brazil, she specialized in Endocrinology and Metabology and was also a Resident Doctor in General Medicine.

"Though it may seem strange the ‘double’ practice of subjects which appear so distant from each other, I have been able to take advantage of the relationship between the art of Medicine and Fine Arts, learning that they give one another mutual support.""

She considers herself a self-learned artist although she has had the opportunity to attend courses in drawing and engraving such as the following, to name but a few:

- Universidade Mineira de Arte, 1st term. Because of this course she received a scholarship to take classes with German engraver J. Friedlander at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil;

- She has taken part of the study group on the Philosophy of Art guided by Professor Moacyr Laterza, PhD, University Temple of Philadelphia;
